It’s unbelievable how some people give up on a slow growing tree and get surprises after a few years when the tree starts baring fruits. I’m sure you have heard a true story of a person giving a positive testimony about a tree that was almost cut down for various reasons yet today it bares fruits to the owner’s delight. This could be a tree that just sprout on it own or planted with intensions. It is known that trees take quite sometime before they mature to bear fruits and the time taken generally contributes to people getting impatient on trees.

If we learn from the tree example, we’ll know that a tree won’t bare fruits unless it has grown strong enough stem to carry the produce. In like manner, the roots should have grown strong enough to support the whole tree. In all the stages of growth, God trough nature remains in control. It would be very unfortunate for a tree to bare fruits that it cannot carry.

There are two lessons to learn from this example:

  1. Don’t give up way too early because there is no substitute for hard work and perseverance. For more supporting information on this fact is covered in the post ‘It Always is a Long Way Coming’.
  2. Don’t fall victims to people who convince you that their ideas can turn around in a minute. It always is a lie because it turns out to be too good to be true.

It is not surprising to learn of millionaires at 50 because all this time they were growing their roots and stem to stand grounded when they eventually make it. It comes from dedication and willingness to keep on trying. The common statements ‘quitters never win’, ‘Rome was not built in a day’ still apply even today. Don’t you expect to get to the top without paying for it one way or the other.

I would like to make an example of a website marketing business. Unless you have all the money in the world to keep buy traffic, it always takes time to create targeted traffic. This is because you have to work hard to impress your audience such that they can spontaneously recommend you to others, and keep coming to your website for more.

As you keep adding content to your website, the roots of your website continues to grow. Search engines begin to get used to you (only if you work with them and not against them), a gradual increase of websites that link to you increase, you get momentum on subscribing users, and people get to know about you and your website gradually. On the internet, nothing just happens unless somebody works hard following the rules that will produce the desired results.

I must say that the working culture is self inflicted and develops over time. The best way to grow it is to start it on passion based projects. It is possible to get to the top but not easy.
