‘You’re Growing’ – A reason Not to Give UP!
Straight to the point advice, ‘don’t give up too early on your idea. You actaully are growing’. Its just that it may not be at your most desired pace. Many people give up excellent idea from several misconceptions that continue to cloud their success. One of the common outdated one is ‘build it they’ll come’. This simply means that if you provide a service, people will notice and ask for your assistance. This could be true with real estate but not so much with other businesses such as internet marketing. You may have to hang on there, fail and try again, for time long enough that you can make a reasonable assessment.
Growth is normally observable over a long period of time. For example, if you look back two years back, can you see any noticeable progress in your idea? You most likely will be surprised at the magnitude of progress you are making. It therefore is a given that you must adopt some special or peculiar kind of attitude, which I liken it to the common story of how an old man tried to save some dying goldfish.
The Goldfish Attitude
A story is told of an old man who was try to save millions of goldfish that had been washed out by a tide onto the sea shore. All he was doing was picking one fish at a time and throw it back into the sea. People passing by thought this was a joke since there were millions of fish dying in the more than 500 meters sea shore stretch and he only could save one at a time. People passing by wanted to know why he was determined even when it seemed impossible to save all the fish. The old man’s response was interesting, ‘it makes a difference to the one fish I save’. Actually, this old man’s effort was not vanity because fish hatch eggs in thousands or even millions. So, if he managed to save a few, he managed to save the species to multiply some time in the future in the sea.
I have grown from zero earnings to ‘R20 per article’, not is a few days, weeks, or even months but years. I started on this journey in 2004 and only reap some financial rewards after 5 years. You also can only if you do not relent but keep on keeping on.
