‘True Stories and Real Examples’ are a Comparative Advantage
Tell me about a business coach that has theoretical knowledge on starting and running a business, and I will tell you about one that started a business and failed. Whom would you go for given an option? People may have their own views and make their own preferences, but I guarantee you that for immediate advise, the one that can relate true stories and give real examples has a comparative advantage. There is no ideal school of experience, even when studying on practical lessons, other than real attempts.
This is largely because the business world has grown from administering businesses to managing them. You will note that success comes from good managerial skills as opposed to administrative skills. The administering regime had loop holes in that experience was not much of a concern, but an added advantage. Today things have changed,
experience is key. You will agree with me that today’s higher level degrees are highly composed of practical case studies to analyze and that there is no right or wrong answer, as long as students can prove the administration model right. This is to mitigate the theory-practicals gap.
You are better of reading practical steps to achieving your set goals as outlined by and experienced somebody , as opposed to someone that is reporting on what others have done. Reporters often are caught off-guard and commonly guess responses, which is the number reason why so many reporters have been sued. If you are not careful when starting out on your project, you may fall a victim of one or both of these circumstances:
- Learning from a reporter that may not have precise answers to your questions or;
- Doing the same mistake of learning to become a reporter.
I advise that you take your time to study who you want to learn from and how you are going to transfer that knowledge into practice.

- All staff members and counterparts are well informed and committed to the project
- Strategic planning supersedes implementation
- Evaluation and measurement tools for progress and results are in place
- There is integration and accountability from everybody involved
