Sell Nike and I’ll Sell my Blog
Did you know that when you buy a visibly Nike branded product that people can see from afar, you are actually promoting the product on behalf of Nike? Nike and all other brands capitalize a lot on this. You earn no cash reward but prestige that can be faked sometimes. So, in other words, you work for nothing. Why not then sell what belongs to you, like this blog that belongs to me, as opposed to working for nothing? Your priority billboard is what you wear and what you speak. Don’t give away that space so easily.
People are fond of buying expensive labels on clothing and other well marketed products and talk a lot about it at the cost of their own profile. In fact, my interpretation is that Nike or any other brand may not be selling quality but the name. if Nike was selling quality, they would only nicely sew in their label inside the garment so that I know who made the quality item as opposed to what name is being worn.
I know that every living person has a potential of branding himself/herself through a product or service of their own, and so are you. It is so common for people to allow themselves to be stepping stones for other people. I’m a writer who is working at promoting / building up my profile. It doesn’t really matter how far my efforts take me, but whatever I do builds on who I am as opposed to who somebody else it.
The only way to capitalize on your talents is understanding who you are, promoting yourself through products and services and doing your best for the benefit of yourself, clients and/or beneficiaries. At the least, you can sell or promote someone esles products if you know you’ll get some commission or compasation of some sort, as detailed in the post ‘The African Money Maker that Works for Me’.
