SAWEBS - Internet Solutions

Today when I count back, I realize that I have invested 6 years of experience in internet marketing, with little success but good enough for a part timer, at least when I consider what I want to become eventually. I know what destroys a blog and what doesn’t. I have taken many hours readings, sometimes listening, to what expert internet marketers say. The truth is that not all that internet marketers recommend can be possible to do for some of us, at least in the short run, because we may not be capacitated to go all the way for various reasons.

The credo of MLM then applies; “If you do nothing – you get nothing, if you do a “little bit” – you’ll get a “little bit”, if you do a “little bit more” you’ll get a “little bit more” and if you do “your best” – you’ll get “the best”. I will first list some of the things that I don’t do and latter list those that I do, yet they have kept my blog getting listed with search engines.

Below are some of the additional things that I should be doing to promote my blog, yet I don’t even bother to do them:

  1. Serious keyword research to use for my articles
  2. Improve page titles
  3. Organic Search Engine Optimizing
  4. Article distribution
  5. Write articles for other sites
  6. Submit articles to newsletters
  7. One way links
  8. Invite others to publish content (have tried this but failed)
  9. Newsletter publication
  10. Newsletter directories
  11. Publish a mini-course
  12. Write testimonials
  13. Being helpful in forums
  14. Post free ads in forums
  15. Be helpful in discussion lists
  16.  Keyword rich press releases
  17. RSS to email
  18. Remove broken links
  19. Podcasting
  20. Tweak internal linking
  21. Chase new affiliate programs
  22. Chase new fads and hot topics
  23. Join business associations
  24. Add a forum to my site
  25. Write free reports or white papers
  26. Write brandable reports
  27. Submit to ebook directories
  28. Offer to be a columnist
  29. Offer to moderate part of a forum
  30. Do something funny
  31. Be outrageous or controversial
  32. Newspaper websites
  33. Upload and tag my photos
  34. Use gimmicks
  35. Create deliberate “link bait”
  36. Syndicate my material
  37. Place a link in Yahoo! Answers
  38. Get links from eBay
  39. Get links from AdSense
  40. Add classified ads to my site
  41. Create my own fanclub
  42. Effective PPC advertising
  43. Buy ads in newsletters
  44. Advertise in less obvious places
  45. Create free web-based software
  46. Create downloadable software
  47. Get publicity for your software
  48. Create a funny video
  49. Use a signature file
  50. Email page to a friend
  51. Add to favorites
  52. Start an affiliate program

What does this mean? It means your blog or website does not need all of the above 52 points to survive. Mine is surviving on only the following website market efforts:

  1. Article directories
  2. Registering with search engines
  3. registering with directories
  4. Using relevant plugins
  5. Keeping my blog alive by posting quality articles (see how frequent here)
  6. Euro Millions Live

  7. Using a memorable domain name
  8. Using keywords in image files
  9. Submit hints to blogs
  10. Blog RSS feeds
  11. Use reliable hosting
  12. Tag my blog
  13. Try offline advertising
  14. Social networking (only twitter so far)

All the 13 points above are cost free yet they have seen me earn something from affiliate marketing. See my article “The African Online Money Maker that Works for Me”. I know that by mid 2010, I’ll be able to cover twice as much my monthly expenditure of keeping all my websites alive online.
