It Better Had Started Making at Least a Dollar a Day
Like many internet marketers, we wish for more than just a dollar a day on affiliate marketing or any other business we do online, yet achieving earnings of as little as a dollar a day takes lots of courage. When you hear those that take lead in this industry, people like Lisa and Michael Cheney, you wish for overnight success.
I remember the time I thought I had got it going with google adsense when one day I earned US $ 3. I really didn’t mind US $ 3 a day because it would get me paid in 2 months and since it would be in US $, I would earn much more when converted to the local currency. Just because I didn’t influence the clicks (ad clicks are paid for by google when a visitor follow the links) one way or the other, I thought this blog had gotten so popular to attract the desired traffic. To my surprise, one browser who confessed having visited my website and paged lots of pages had surely contributed to those clicks. After that positive surprise, nothing came except for less page impressions, let alone clicks.
Hardly any business will create the desired momentum in a small space of time, and time in this case is relative. It means therefore that it depends on the type of business you run and how you do it. Publishing for example, including print and electronic mediums, takes time to attract a lucrative number of loyal customers. For me, it has taken more than four year and still wanting, as opposed to Lisa who declares having taken her website to greater heights in just four months. You just have to like what you do if you want to make money in publishing. Publishing is also not a cheap industry to run, yet if you plan right and tactfully select your options, you can extremely minimize the costs.
My options for now are effective internet cafes and cell phone connection to the internet. It works cheaper to purchase a month’s time access from an internet café as opposed to installing a telephone line and using a dial-up or ADSL connection. Even though there is a lot of inconvenience in relying on internet cafes because of occasional unavoidable queues, but it still works out cheaper. You will agree with me that cell phone connection has more to do with convenience as you can connect from anywhere when you want to.
Summary
I want to bring the point I’m driving at as the centre of this article. You don’t want to trust those guys that tell the good news of success yet avoid the reality of working towards achieving the success. There is no short cut around it, just work at promoting your website, whether by posting more relevant articles or paying for traffic. I choose to work at building a reputable website because when it does attract the desired traffic volume, it will be more sustainable.
