Dance Only to Business You Can Do Well At
In last year’s corporate Christmas party I realized my mistake of giving wrong impressions on my ability to dance. In almost a year previous party, I made impressive gestures that left many thinking that I’m good at dancing. However, this time I was a total disgrace to my friends as I tried my best in dancing to win the best dancer voucher of a weekend for two at Royal Swazi Sun Hotel. I now was under pressure to display my talent and couldn’t because dancing is not in me. Yet I learnt a timeless life lesson, ‘Dance only if you can’.
Practice Makes perfect and is Necessary
I strongly believe that all people can dance but not all people are ready to do so as soon as the opportunity avails itself. For example, would you like being represented by someone claiming to be an athlete yet hasn’t practiced nor compete at any time? Definitely you want such people to be on their own so that you don’t get involved should there be consequences arising from unexpected performance.
Application
You know your best talents, gifts, interests, passions and skills. Those are the things you won’t feel burdened pursuing and you must focus on such. I know that I’m good at research, analysing situations and motivating others, thus I find it interesting to blog and publish both books and e-books. That I attempted to dance at the party is that people believed so much I could do it and I also wanted to win the price at stake.
Don’t fall for the same mistake; it’s so humiliating to attempt something you know you are not good at, especially when competing for a price. The best thing to do is focusing on what you can best and do it the way it should be done, and you will succeed.
