Selling Products in Your Blog
I recently got confused as to why some internet marketers consider a blog as a marketing tool for a website that has sales pages. To my understanding, a blog is nothing different from a website that you chose to update more frequently, thus it can effectively be used to sell products.
Recently I worked at monetizing my blog because I notice some mileage on traffic and other indicators do tell that this blog is going somewhere better. I then took interest on developing my products page (which I’m yet to develop further) and somehow got to know about Ms. Yudkin who is a successful marketer and seems to be against blogging. Then a question came to mind as to how effective selling products from a blog is? I searched and found the article ‘Selling Product on Your Blog’ by Sarah. She recommends use of the plugin WP e-Commerce that I think is only an alternative to many options.
I sell my products through tradebit.com and simply provide download links in the products page. I know I’m not the only one that sell products like this and it surely works. What more do people look for other than products produced, as well as recommended, by someone they trust. In short, I think it’s practical to sell products from your blog or even treating your blog as a sales website.
I’m yet to get differing views on this subject because for me and others like Steve Pavlina do sell products online through our blogs. In any case, a one page website wouldn’t do much for a marketer, so the best alternative is making it live and active for visitors to enjoy each visit. If a one page website works, it would mean a lot of paid-for online marketing and may not suit a majority marketer budget.
