You already are an Expert and can Start Earning
Many people believe that consultancy has got to do with very high qualifications on specialized fields, yet that is a great misconception of the whole thing. People need to realize that there is no person that is least knowledgeable than any other in EVERTHING. This makes all living people experts in some specialties and thus stands good chances to make a living helping those that don’t have the expertise. This exercise is commonly known as consulting.
Can I convince you Right Away!
Allow me to convince you that you can consult at any level of knowledge you have. You do not need to be top of the list on your specialty, but you just need to demonstrate that you can do it.
Example 1
Today I was visited by a friend whose highest qualification is high school certificate yet he taught me how to do business good enough to put food on the table for the family and save some for education and holiday. His point is that you must know the systems on where to capitalize. His competitive advantage is making sure to deliver good service and high quality products. He runs a general dealer business and just received an order to deliver 200 trays of garden seedlings. Guess what? He said it’s his first order of seedlings but he will make sure to deliver none-withered plants with fresh healthy leaves so that he can be recommended to other communities. He is no expert in growing seedlings, but has intensions to demonstrate that he can deliver
Example 2
I have written and published five books and I didn’t go to class for it. Many people like my books and therefore want to know how they can successfully write their own books. All I did was demonstrate by publishing and marketing a hard copy published book and people knew I could guide them do the same.
Example 3
If you’ve run a blog long enough to do the following, you know how to maintain a website and therefore can be hired to maintain one for others.
- Approve comments and trackbacks
- Clearing the spam
- Emptying your trash
- Reply to emails
- Backup the website
- Update your website pages
- Upgrade applicable software
- Improve functionality of the website
- Manage plugins -
- Manage themes
- Remove unwanted images
- Check your links
- Clear your system error log
- Manage your advertising ads
You can schedule maintenance for websites and charge a small fee on those that cannot do it or cannot find time to do it.
Where to Start!
Get to know you what you enjoy doing. Look around for people that do what you do but not as good as the average product or service require. Close the gab by letting them know where they lack and then offer a service for a small fee. Make sure you charge fairly because it may catch up with you if you are money driven. Do it so the customer is happy to pay you as well as like the service you have offered.
